Rm 21
In this class, students will examine American history starting after the Civil War and ending at the present. Students will use primary sources to gain a greater understanding of the people living through the events studied.
The student is encouraged and expected to become an active participant in the learning process by reading text assignments, taking notes in class, participating in class activities, and completing assigned student exercises.
Students are also expected to follow the classroom rules:
1) Students must be on time-tardiness, unexcused absences, and late assignments will negatively affect a student’s grade/credits.
2) Students must come to class prepared-I will do my best to make sure the students have the tools they need to thrive, but they need to do their parts to ensure their success in my class.
3) Students must follow directions-directions are given to promote understanding, but students are encouraged to ask questions whenever they need to.
4) Students must be respectful-disturbing others, speaking out of turn, leaving a mess behind, etc. are signs of disrespect that will not be tolerated. Interruption of the learning process benefits no one and I want my students to get the most out of the time they spend in my class.
Grading
Each assignment is worth a certain number of points, and the goal is to get as many points as possible. The student-accumulated points are then added up and divided by the number of points possible which gives a grade determined by percentage. All work will be returned with the “points received” over the “points possible” in the form of a fraction so the students can keep track of their grades.
Another part of the students’ grades is a Daily Grade. The students’ behavior, attendance, and willingness to follow the classroom rules and procedures are reflected in a grade given daily. These points are factored into the overall classroom grade.
Grade scale %
100-99=A+ 98-95=A 94-90=A-
89-88=B+ 87-85=B 84-80=B-
79-78=C+ 77-75=C 74-70=C-
69-68-D+ 67-65=D 64-60=D-
**59 and ↓=E
